ExpressCards - the new laptop standard

Over the next few years you should slowly see the standard PCMCIA slots on laptops disappear (if you are a Mac laptop user it won’t be so slow - the new MacBook Pro’s only have ExpressCard slots). The new standard, ExpressCard, is smaller and faster than PCMCIA. ExpressCards come in two different sizes - 34mm and 54mm - 34mm ExpressCards will fit in 54mm slots, but not vice versa, so make sure you know which one you are working with if you buy a new laptop.
